Hotels, restaurants, cafés and travel agencies in France

Hotels and tourist residences, campsites, traditional and fast-food restaurants, caterers, bars and cafés, travel agencies and tour operators: for suppliers to the hospitality trade, makers of till and booking software and drinks distributors who want to target the establishments of one département or tourist area.

Our database for France holds 1,577,933 records (as of 4 November 2026); they are not yet assigned to industries. The quote states the size available for this industry.

Export of the whole industry: €409 (full price). Selections by region, department or your own filters are quoted on request.

Official statistics: 316,261 businesses in France according to Eurostat, structural business statistics (sbs_ovw_act) (reference year 2024, data as of 30 September 2026). Divisions 55 accommodation (64,098), 56 food and beverage service (239,364) and 79 travel agencies, tour operators and reservation services (12,799) combined. This is the size of the market, not the size of our database.

Selecting by type of establishment and by area

Start with the type of establishment (hotels, campsites, restaurants, bars, travel agencies), then the area, for example the départements of a mountain range or a stretch of coast. Making the website a required field lets you check each establishment’s offer before sending.

Our records do not yet carry a NAF code: selecting by activity (NAF subclass) will only be possible for records matched with the Sirene database (matching in progress). The quote states what can be done today: area and required fields.

The official figure shown counts businesses, not sites: a hotel group counts once, whereas our file lists every address.

Price of the whole industry: €409. A selection by region, sub-industry or required fields is quoted individually; the whole-industry price is not a price promise for the filtered selection.

What counts as Hotels, restaurants and tourism

The sector combines three divisions of NAF rév. 2: accommodation (55), food and beverage service (56) and travel agencies and tour operators (79). What separates a hotel from a holiday let is the service, not the sign above the door: INSEE classifies accommodation that must provide daily bed-making and room cleaning under 55.10Z; without that service the establishment falls under 55.20Z.

For food service, the classification separates table service (56.10A) from counter service to eat in or take away (56.10C), which also covers meals sold from mobile units. Tourist information offices are classified under 79.90Z together with reservation services and guides; nightclubs fall under 56.30Z only where serving drinks is the main activity.

Atout France and licences: checking an establishment, not contacting it

Two official lists can be consulted freely, and selling alcohol requires a licence. These sources let you check a status; they are not a prospecting file.

Register of travel and holiday operators
Registration with Atout France is mandatory for an operator established in France that sells package holidays or travel services it does not produce itself; it confirms the financial guarantee and professional liability insurance and must be renewed every three years. Searching the register shows, among other things, the registration number, legal form, address, guarantor and insurer.
Classified tourist accommodation
Atout France publishes the list of classified accommodation daily under the Licence Ouverte: tourist hotels, campsites, tourist residences, holiday villages, residential leisure parks and group hostels, with their classification, address, website and capacity. The file contains no SIRET, phone number or email address.
Licences to sell alcohol
Any establishment selling alcohol, to drink on site or to take away, needs a licence: licence III, licence IV, restaurant licence or takeaway licence (Service Public Entreprendre). For on-site consumption, the operator must hold an operating permit and file a prior declaration with the town hall (with the prefecture in Paris and Alsace-Moselle). We have not found a public national list of licences.

Not in the export

  • star rating and tourism labels
  • type of alcohol licence
  • number of rooms, covers or pitches
  • name of the manager, director or chef
  • seasonal opening dates
  • customer reviews and online ratings

The 15 columns supplied are described on the export page.

Season, brands, sites: three things to keep in mind

On the coast and in the mountains, some hotels, campsites and restaurants open only a few months a year. An establishment closed out of season stays in the sources but may be unreachable for months: plan a call campaign or a mailing before the season opens rather than at its peak.

One brand often runs several addresses, and each address is a row in the file. The SIRET, added as records are matched with the Sirene database, lets you group the sites of one company or keep only one of them.

Star ratings are not a column in our export. For an offer aimed only at classified hotels, match your selection against the list published by Atout France, by municipality and address.

Example request

We develop booking software for independent hotels. We are looking for hotels (55.10Z) and short-stay accommodation (55.20Z) in Savoie and Haute-Savoie that publish a website, for a postal mailing before the winter season. How many records already have a NAF code, and how many do not yet?

Questions

Hotels, restaurants and tourism: frequently asked questions

Not yet: our records do not carry a NAF code yet. Subclass 56.10A is restaurants with table service, 56.10C fast food and takeaway; selection will be possible for establishments matched with the Sirene database. Matching is in progress; the quote states how many records have a NAF code and how many do not yet.

Yes, where they appear in our sources: NAF classifies them under 79.90Z, alongside reservation services and tourist guides. Many are public bodies or associations; check that your offer is relevant to them before including them in a sales campaign.

For a generic address such as contact@, which belongs to a legal entity, the CNIL states that the rules on email prospecting do not apply. For an individual’s address, business-to-business prospecting is possible if the message relates to their profession, provided they are informed and can easily object. Sole traders are flagged in the forme_juridique column once the record is matched with Sirene. Details: B2B prospecting by email and phone.
